Tony Assenza of Motor Trend has travelled in a lot of cars. Still, when Volvo entered its new 740 Turbo Wagon in the Cannonball One Lap of America, he wanted to go along for the ride.
What a ride he got.
“On our second night, a blizzard closed the main highway at Glendive, Montana Eight below zero. Glare ice. An arctic wind pushing snow down from Canada."
“We knew the Volvo could take it, even though a lot of our competition — some with four wheel drive — had called it quits for the night We headed north on a back road. The snow was drifting, and you couldn’t see much beyond the hood. Our check point was 593 miles away."
